Your stay in Erice
Towering over the west of Sicily at 751m above sea level and often covered in its own personal cloud, Erice is a wonderfully preserved Mediaeval town offering the most breathtaking views and a palpable sense of history. Apart from the meeting rooms, the EMFCSC organizes transfers between Erice and the airports, accommodation and meals for all its participants.
From the Airport to Erice:
Drivers will be waiting
outside the baggage claim area of Palermo or Trapani Airport with signs that read
EMFCSC (EMFCSC is the acronym for "Ettore Majorana” Foundation and Centre for
Scientific Culture), or Ettore Majorana Centre. You cannot miss them. In case
of emergency such as missed driver, lost luggage, very last moment changes in
your travel itinerary during transit (i.e. missed connecting flight, rerouting,
etc.) please contact us at the phone numbers of the Ettore Majorana Centre given
below. It is not possible to arrange transfers to different airports or to the
city centre.
From Erice to the Airport:
Meeting point and time for the departure transfer will be displayed on a panel at the E. Majorana Centre in San Rocco hall.
Your accommodation will be in the living quarters
of either of the three Institutes, which are located in renovated monasteries,
(“Rabi” Institute-San Rocco, “Wigner” Institute-San Domenico and “Blackett” Institute-San
Francesco). Please check in and register at the E. Majorana Center upon your arrival
and you will be directed to the monastery.
Breakfast is provided daily
at the “Rabi” Institute-San Rocco (from about 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.).
Coffee,
tea and snacks are available during coffee
breaks.
For lunch and dinner, a
choice of meals is arranged at a few local restaurants selected by the
E. Majorana
Centre. You sign for your meal, but pay for your own beverages. Service is included
in the price of the meal. There will be a list of restaurants at the entrance
of San Rocco (Secretariat of the Foudation) and in the folder which participants
will receive upon arrival.
Marsala wine & Sicilian pastries
will be available in San Rocco Cellar after dinner.
